This project was undertaken whilst at Johns Associates Ltd.
JA were commissioned by Garon Park Community Interest Company to prepare a Landscape and Visual Appraisal (LVA) and supporting landscape masterplan for the proposed enhancement of existing facilities at the established leisure and sporting facilities at Garon Park, located to the north of Southend.
The scope of the project included proposed sports pitches and associated improvements which is described as follows:
Installation of 3G artificial football pitch, 3G artificial hockey/netball pitch and football / netball 3G pitch overlay on netball courts, erection of new changing block and sports entrance kiosk, construction of sports machine yard with associated installation of prefabricated storage building and containers, together with ancillary infrastructure including building services/plant, surface water drainage, buried foul treatment plant, security fencing and gates, lighting, cycle parking, and landscaping.
Our role at the planning stage was to respond to concerns raised by the Southend City Council regarding the potential effects on landscape character and visual amenity associated with the proposed sports pitches, including impact on the Green Belt.
The project was approved at planning in 2024.
