This project was undertaken whilst at Johns Associates Ltd. We were commissioned to undertake a Landscape Visual Impact Assessment (LVIA) and develop a Landscape & Ecological Strategy Masterplan with sections to support a planning application for the the creation of a series of new commercial fishing lakes at the site.

An important consideration was the sensitivity of the landscape setting and to respond positively in landscape and ecological terms to create a significant enhancement to the existing site whilst delivering the functional requirements of the new fishery

The proposals include the creation of five new fishing lakes with associated access and parking provision.

We led the ‘visioning’ on this sensitive site, including a cut and fill exercise and coordinating the landscape strategy with the wider project team comprising planning, ecology, hydrology, and arboriculture.

The application received a positive response from the LPA (Somerset Council) and planning approval was received in June 2025.
